Confessions of a Spitfire with an Editor (Now Featuring a Chill Assistant)

I won’t lie….I use ChatGPT to help me write blogs, especially when my nervous system is on high alert, and lets be honest, that happens more than I am comfortable owning up to.

Not because I don’t have opinions or know what and how to say what I mean.
But because my opinions arrive fully formed, emotionally charged, and ready to spark.

I don’t struggle with what to say.
I struggle with how not to burn the building down while saying it.

🧠 Raw Me Is Not Internet-Safe

Here’s a fun fact about me:

I am too spicy for direct communication when my nervous system is already on edge.

Which is why Joey handles:

  • Email marketing

  • Customer service

  • Anything that requires a calm, friendly tone

Because if my perimenopause is feeling creative, someone could absolutely receive an email that says:

“With peace and love, please stop emailing us.”

And by “peace and love,” I mean fuck off (apparently hormones can be unrelenting and harsh!)

✍️ Why I Use Tools (Plural)

I write blogs with ChatGPT because it:

  • Adds a pause between thought and send

  • Softens my “technically correct but emotionally aggressive” phrasing

  • Keeps us compliant, friendly, and employed

It doesn’t change my message.
It just removes the sharpest edges.

🌿 Enter Hemp: The Spice Tamer (Not the Silencer)

Now let’s talk about hemp.

Hemp doesn’t turn me into a different person.
It does not make me quiet.
And it definitely does not erase my opinions.

What it can do—for some people—is help take the edge off when the nervous system is already buzzing.

For me, that looks like:

  • Fewer emotionally charged emails drafted in my head

  • A little more space between “I feel this” and “I should say this”

  • Enough calm to choose how I respond instead of reacting

Think of hemp like:

  • A dimmer switch, not an off button

  • A softening, not a shutdown

  • A moment to breathe before hitting send

The spice is still there.
It’s just… managed.

 Sugarcoating Still Not Installed

I don’t have a fluffy version of myself.
I have:

  • Direct

  • Direct but calmer

  • Quiet (which usually means I’m choosing my words very carefully)

Hemp doesn’t make me less honest.
It just helps me deliver honesty without collateral damage.

💚 The Real Takeaway

Using tools doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means you know yourself.

I use ChatGPT to edit my words.
I use hemp to help regulate my tone.

Neither of them erase who I am.
They just help me show up in a way that’s a little more… digestible.

Fun Friday takeaway:
You don’t have to lose your edge to find your calm.
Sometimes you just need a pause, a breath, and a plant.
