Because Science, Pt. 2: What’s Really in Your Vape?

When it comes to hemp and THCa, there’s no shortage of confusion — especially about what’s inside your vape. We get it. There’s a lot of noise out there, and not all vapes are created equal. So, let’s clear the air (literally) and talk about what’s really going into your cartridge — and why it matters.

Because science does the talking here, not rumors.

The Basics:

A properly made THCa vape should contain three simple components:

  1. Cannabis extract (distillate, live resin, or liquid diamonds)

  2. Plant-derived terpenes

  3. Clean hardware made for cannabis oil

That’s it. No vitamin E acetate. No fillers. No weird synthetic “cloud enhancers.”

At Jam’n, we start with real hemp extract — THCa that occurs naturally in federally compliant hemp plants.

We don’t use products that have been bleached, filtered, or altered.  Color isn’t something to “fix” — it’s proof that your product is real, raw, and full of plant character.

What You Don’t Want in a Vape

Sadly, not every product on the market follows that same philosophy.
Lower-quality or counterfeit vapes might include:

  • Synthetic cannabinoids – chemically altered compounds designed to imitate THC.

  • Vitamin E acetate or MCT oil – linked to lung irritation and poor vaporization.

  • Bleached or color-treated oil – artificially processed to look lighter, often at the cost of potency and safety.

  • Unverified flavorings – often lab blends that can break down into harmful byproducts when heated.

If a company can’t tell you where its hemp extract comes from or what ingredients are used, that’s a red flag.

Common Synthetic Cannabinoids (and Why They’re Problematic)

These are lab-made chemicals designed to mimic the effects of natural THC, but they don’t occur in the cannabis plant — and they often bind to cannabinoid receptors much more aggressively, leading to unpredictable or dangerous effects.

Some well-known examples:

  1. JWH-018, JWH-073, JWH-200

    • Among the earliest synthetics created for research, later used in products like “Spice” or “K2.”

    • Can cause anxiety, paranoia, rapid heart rate, or seizures.

  2. HU-210, HU-211

    • Extremely potent laboratory compounds (up to 100× stronger than Δ9-THC).

    • Originally studied for medical use but never approved for consumption.

  3. AB-FUBINACA, AB-CHMINACA, AKB-48 (APINACA)

    • Found in many unregulated “herbal incense” or “fake weed” blends.

    • Linked to severe toxicity, psychosis, and even fatalities.

  4. 5F-ADB (also known as 5F-MDMB-PINACA)

    • One of the most dangerous synthetics detected in illicit vapes and “designer” edibles.

    • Banned in the U.S. due to its strong, unpredictable effects.

How These Differ From THCa

  • THCa is naturally occurring in both hemp and marijuana plants.

  • It becomes THC only through heat and decarboxylation, not chemical alteration.

  • Legitimate THCa, Live Resin, or Liquid Diamonds products (like Jam’n’s) are made from plant extraction, not synthetic formulation.

So when people lump hemp THCa vapes in with “synthetic cannabinoids,” they’re mixing up nature’s chemistry with lab chemistry.

Why Transparency Matters

Knowing what’s in your vape gives you peace of mind. You deserve clear information, not a marketing spin —  because we all want real hemp, real cannabinoids, real science.
